Actress Kelly Frye was reportedly cast to play the character of Plastique in the first season of the new TV series "The Flash".

The actress will play the character of Bette Sans Souci, also known as Plastique. She is set to make an appearance on the fifth episode of season 1. Based on the comic book, Plastique is a foe to Firestorm set to be played by Arrow star Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie. She is also an antagonist of Captain Atom as well as his love interest.

According to TV Line, the back story of Plastique in "The Flash" is that she was a former bomb disposal expert dispatched in Iraq. She was exposed to the energy released by the S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown. The effect of the incident on her body is that she acquired the ability to turn any object she touches into an explosive device.

Because of her powerful and explosive ability, the government tried to get hold of her and turn her into a human weapon. She managed to escape and went in hiding. As she tried to run away from the government, she found an ally in meta-human The Flash.

It seemed that Bette Sans Souci and Barry Allen were both exposed to the same energy. However, there is no word yet whether Plastique will be a villain or a protagonist on "The Flash" season 1.

It is anticipated that Plastique will plan bombings and assassinations of high powered people in government who were after her. Popular actor Wentworth Miller will also guest star as Leonard Snart also known as Captain Cold in the comic book version.

Meanwhile, Kelly Frye previously starred in the series "Rake" as Cindy Beck. She also appeared as guest in some shows such as "NCIS: Los Angeles", "House" and "The Mentalist".

"The Flash" series premiere airs Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
