"The Blacklist" season 2B landed a post-Super Bowl time slot, which is a pretty awesome time for the show to make a big return. The upcoming episode will be a two-part special and it will show Red in a predicament and he will meet his new nemesis.
The Super Bowl episode is titled "Luther Braxton" and, according to CarterMatt, it will tell "a standalone plot line" to appeal to first-time viewers (considering it is after the Super Bowl kick off). In the episode, Raymond Reddington or Red will be in trouble due to his sharp tongue and then later, he will meet a villain in Luther Braxton, to be played by Ron Perlman.
The official synopsis goes:
"When the elusive Reddington is arrested and taken to a secret detention facility Liz and the task force set out to save Red before he disappears forever. Meanwhile, Red encounters Luther Braxton at the detention facility, a thief that he shares a complicated history with."
The second episode will follow just four days after to complete the two-parter. Carter Matt reports that in this episode, there is a possibility that Red and Liz's relationship will be over. And then, there's also the struggle that Cooper will face.
The synopsis goes:
"As chaos ensues at the Factory leaving the fate of Red and the task force unknown, FBI boss Cooper struggles to rescue his team from the detention facility. Meanwhile, it's a race against time to stop Luther Braxton from attaining confidential information."
Airing an episode after the Super Bowl comes with tremendous pressure. Hopefully, what NBC has in store for the return of "The Blacklist" should suffice. Not to mention, everyone is waiting to see Ron Perlman.
"The Blacklist" airs Feb. 1 and then returns on Feb. 5 for its new timeslot.
