'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' movie update: Casting calls and other details

News about "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" has been going back and forth for a while now. Sony's plan for the web-slinger was very uncertain following the weak reception of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." The hacked emails from the Sony execs didn't help the third installment's case either.

Sony's plan to build a Spider-Man movie universe crumbled down when second installment didn't do well in the box office. If it did, there would be no question about the third movie right now. There was also a rumor that Marvel would take over the "Spider-Man" movie franchise. That, too, didn't happen.

Right now, Den of Geek says that "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is back on. According to the report, Bill Beckman Casting put out a casting call for extras for the third movie. The casting call, according to the article, suggests that the shoot will be done in Atlanta and that Andrew Garfield and Dane DeHaan will be in the movie, too. Sony has not confirmed any of these details so fans have to take this bit of info with a grain of salt.

While on the topic of the cast, is J.K. Simmons returning to the franchise to play the role of J. Jonah Jameson? He had an interview with Howard Stern recently where he was asked if there is a possibility that he would reprise his role in the movie. He answered "Absolutely!

Fans can consider this as another clue that "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is indeed back in the game. Or, could the actor be talking about the movie "Sinister Six" that is set to come out in 2016? Either way, fans love Simmons and seeing him again should be gratifying.

Meanwhile, it looks like Spider-Man will be busy jumping from one studio to another because Peter Parker will reportedly be working for Marvel as well. The scoop from Latino Review says that the Marvel deal pushed through and that Spider-Man will appear in "The Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1."
