The upcoming Tesla Model 3, which is expected to be the first electric car to hit 215 miles on a single charge, is launching sometime in 2017, and unlike previous models, it is speculated that it will be delivered to Asian regions first before landing in North America.
According to Auto World News, there has been a popular rumor suggesting that the vehicles are expected to be delivered to Asian nations first. This would mean that countries like China, Singapore, and Taiwan may be the first ones to purchase the vehicle once it is ready.
However, the report points out that there is a priority list for pre-orders and that the rumor may not hold a kindle of truth to it. The report states that a known Tesla analyst, Stephen Pace, states that the upcoming electric vehicle would launch first in North America.
"The first Tesla Model 3s will be delivered in California and you can take that to the bank," he stated. "Besides logistics, there are plenty of sound business reasons to get it into friendlier hands," he went on to say.
Pace also explained that Tesla employees are also being included in the list of pre-orders given that Tesla gives priority to existing Tesla car owners, most of whom are also Tesla employees. With many of their employees in the United States, it is reasoned that the first batch of cars would be launched in North America instead of Asia.
As stated by The Verge, several months back when the car was unveiled, the Tesla Model 3 builds on the success of the Tesla Model S and the Tesla Roadster. It will be capable of going from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6 seconds. It will be able to drive over 215 miles on a single charge, and it is also is estimated to start at a base retail price of $35,000, although this will increase with additional features.
