Tesla Model 3 release date, price: Vehicle not launching until late 2017

The Tesla Model 3 is set to change the landscape regarding electronic vehicles due to its lower price tag and mileage. But as stated in a report from The Week, it is not expected to be released to the public until late 2017 and even then it might not be widely available due to a long waiting list, indicating many customers may have to wait until 2018.

According to the report, the estimate suggested retail price for the base trim could start at £30,000, which equates to approximately $39,000. However, this will go up when consumers opt to get some of the extra features such as the AutoPilot, dual motors and other high-end additions.

TechRadar reports that reservations can be made as early as now and US consumers will benefit from a $7,500 federal tax credit that will lower the price below the $30,000 mark. The report also has confirmed that Tesla is offering a new system that allows consumers to withdraw their reservation in case they change their mind about buying the Tesla Model 3.

The Week also states that the exact performance capabilities of the Tesla Model 3 have been under wraps but there are rumors that it can go from 0-60 mph in under six seconds. It has been confirmed, however, that the vehicle will be one of the most efficient electric cars in the market as it can drive for 215 miles in just a single charge.

It is further stated that the car has only been partly revealed. The first reveal was this past March but The Week confirms that a second, more complete reveal was due in early 2017, several months before the car would be officially launched.

The default build comes in Rear Wheel Drive although for an additional amount it has been confirmed that consumers can avail of an All Wheel Drive version instead. TechRadar states this can cost an additional $3,000.
