"Tekken 7" is launching in North America in early 2017, and while the game's main focus is going to be the one-on-one action, it will have a story campaign to play through. A brand new trailer, released during the Golden Joysticks Award event, now hints at the story gamers can expect to experience.

While a large majority of the trailer focuses on the fighting action of the game, with many scenes dedicated to showing the moves and abilities of the newer characters, it also gives glimpses of a woman kneeling by a grave. There are also cuts of scenes from the previous "Tekken" games, particularly of Heihachi Mishima murdering his son, Kazuya.

It is widely believed that this woman is Kazumi Mishima, Heihachi's wife. Kazumi was murdered years before the series' story began, and it is now implied that she likely survived, biding her time to recover and become powerful enough to defeat her husband.

Akuma, a character from the "Street Fighter" franchise, is also shown in great detail. There is a long CG sequence centered entirely on Akuma and Heihachi fighting in what appears to be an old temple. Akuma's role in the story is confirmed to be substantial, but Bandai Namco has yet to give a clue on what it is.

Other portions of the trailer show a man rising from a grave and a battle between Heihachi and Kazuya in a volcano, which is likely to be the volcano where Heihachi threw his son in back in "Tekken 2." Jin Kazama, Kazuya's son, is also shown in the trailer, but his role is now likely reduced to focus on Akuma and Kazumi.

Bandai Namco has yet to announce an official release date for "Tekken 7." The game will launch in early 2017 for the Xbox One and PS4. For the first time in the series, a native PC port is also confirmed to launch.
