'Tekken 7' release date for consoles: Game still being polished

Tekken 7 Bandai Namco

While Japanese arcade players are already enjoying the fighting matches in "Tekken 7," console players all over the world are still hoping to get a chance to play the ninth installment of the fighting game in the comforts of their own home.

Bandai Namco had been mum about the developments regarding the console versions of the game, especially about its possible release date. Good thing game director Katsuhiro Harada recently shared new details about their plans of bringing "Tekken 7" to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the future.

In an interview with Segment Next, Harada said that Bandai Namco is currently focusing on fixing all the present issues of the game and looking into the feedbacks provided by fans before they begin working on the console edition of "Tekken 7." The game director also stated that they are working hard to add "cool things" to further enhance the game.

"This does give us on the other hand the chance to polish up the game while people are playing in Japan in the arcades. And to add content – unlock characters and such," Harada shared. "Eventually when it does comes out in console there will be all kinds of cool things in the game that we can't go much into detail right now but obviously it would be much better than it is now."

Still, the game director refused to mention the exact timeline for the release of the console editions of "Tekken 7" in the U.S. and other countries.

Also, Harada shared that they are still considering offering online arcade options for "Tekken 7" in the U.S., but it will depend on the players and game operators in the area.

Japanese players initially had an opportunity to play the game on Feb. 18 when it was released in limited arcade settings. It was formally released all over Japan beginning March 18.
