The first photos from "Switched at Birth" season 5 has been released (via TV Guide), showing Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) enjoying their time in China.

The two were getting tattoos while they are in the country and were all smiles as they did. The ink designs were not shown, and fans will have to wait until next year to get a look at them.

These "Switched at Birth" season 5 photos suggest that fans might get a look at how Bay was inspired to be a tattoo artist, which is what she was doing in China during the finale of the previous season.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 will mark the end of the drama series but not before it reaches its 100th episode milestone with the third episode of the season.

The series will return to the small screen with a revelation about the phone call that had Bay and Daphne rushing to return to Kansas after building their life in China.

Bay has become a tattoo artist and may have ended up working with a renowned tattoo artist, Noelle, to be played by a new cast member, Valery Ortiz.

Daphne will be working at a medical clinic. The two of them will meet an English-speaking doctor named Ling, who will be played by "Desperate Housewives" star Gwendolyn Yeo. The character could end up working with Daphne.

Meanwhile, Tristin Mays is also joining "Switched at Birth" season 5 as a college student named Ally, who has unexpected ties to the Kennish–Vasquez clan.

When Bay and Daphne return to Kansas, they will deal with a whole host of new problems. Daphne will be hated by her black classmates after Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) dresses up as rapper Lil Wayne for a costume party.

Bay, on the other hand, will have issues with Travis (Ryan Lane) and Emmett (Sean Berdy), which leads her to regret going back home.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m. ET on Freeform.
