'Switched at Birth' season 5 update: show officially starts filming

 Freeform

"Switched at Birth" season 4 ended on a cliffhanger and a sudden time jump of ten months. However, season 5 is almost on its way, and according to a report from Cartermatt, production has now officially begun, meaning the cameras are rolling and a proper release date may be announced soon.

The report states that series creator Lizzy Weiss shared the news via Twitter when she posted a photo of the cast together and the caption that confirmed they were on their first day of filming. Back in December, Weiss posted a photo of the script for episode 1 and confirmed that the series would premiere sometime this April.

Given that the premiere date is only two months away, it is likely that only the first half of the season will complete its production by the time the first episode airs. At this point, however, it is unclear what kind of production schedule the cast and crew are following so it is possible that every episode for the season may be completed sooner than later.

Despite production starting, there is very little known about the plot and direction that "Switched at Birth" season 5 will follow. Back in October last year, Weiss explained in a report with the Wrap that nothing was concrete at the time, but that was several months ago and the screen play for the episodes may have been completed within that time.

Weiss did explain a few things and offered some insight into what may unfold in season 5. She did explain that the time jump at the end of season 4 was necessary to allow Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Bay (Vanessa Marano) to logically learn the skills they have in China.

She also stated that Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lilly's (Rachel Shenton) baby will play a large role in the series moving forward.

"It was just important that we end the first part of that journey," Weiss stated. "On the other hand, you're just beginning the journey. That is a really beautiful moment, and one of my favorites, not just in the episode, but in the series."

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
