'Supergirl' season 2 spoilers: Tyler Hoechlin cast as Superman

Tyler Hoechlin as seen in Teen Wolf Season 5 MTV

Clark Kent aka Kal-El or Superman appeared sporadically in "Supergirl" season 1 but according to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the character will finally make a proper appearance in season 2. The report further reveals that Superman will be played by "Teen Wolf" veteran Tyler Hoechlin.

This will be the first time on the show that Superman's face will be revealed as he was always kept hidden, either by poor lighting or due to his super speed powers.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Hoechlin explained that he will not just try to imitate the other actors who have portrayed Superman before, particularly Henry Cavill, who is playing Superman right now for the DC films such as "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

"I never try to compare and contrast performances because it's such an iconic character already," he explained. "Superman is Superman so I'm just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part. I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I'm just excited to find out Clark's sense of humor."

According to a report from Screen Rant, there may be an interesting dynamic that will come to play given how the show is designed to shine the spotlight on Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and not her more famous cousin.

Fans also speculate that the introduction of Superman will radically alter the world of the CW superhero shows such as "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow."

Given how "The Flash" season 2 ended with Flash (Grant Gustin) altering history, it is possible now that the world of "Supergirl" is now set in the same world as the "Arrowverse" shows. If this proves true then Superman's presence may alter the impact of the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and the other heroes.

"Supergirl" season 2 premieres on the CW Network this Oct. 10.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
