'Street Fighter V' news : First DLC character now available

Street Fighter V - Alex Capcom

The roster for "Street Fighter V" continues to grow as Capcom just released the first DLC character for the game, Alex, reports Destructoid. Accompanying the new character is the new in-game shop, which will allow players to purchase new characters and costumes.

Alex first appeared in "Street Fighter 3," where he took over as the main character, with Ryu and Ken tackling their own little story that wasn't the main highlight of the game. Unlike many of the large, wrestling-type characters, Alex is considered an all-around character, mixing his size and strength with quick maneuvering and using the arena to his advantage.

As shown in the trailer, some of his former moves have been turned into EX specials such as his Hyper Bomb and the Power Drop. His main Critical Art is known as the Heavy Hammer, which executes a series of wrestling moves before he picks up the opponent and raises them high in the air before dropping them back down head-first.

His Overhaul V-Skill is akin to his "Street Fighter III" taunt move. If the enemy attacks during this move Alex will automatically counter. His V-Trigger is the Rage Shift, enhancing Alex's power and he gains access to a powerful clothesline attack called the Sledge Hammer.

The release of the DLC does not include the Zenny Shop which means players can try Alex for free using the optional Trial Period. This trial period will end when the Zenny Shop goes online in the near future. From then on, players will need to purchase Alex using Fight Money, Zenny or through the Season Pass.

Fight Money can be earned in-game simply by continuously playing and winning matches, allowing players to purchase all of the DLC without spending real cash. Zenny is in-game currency players can buy using real-world cash, enabling those who don't want to spend too much time playing before being able to unlock characters.

New DLC characters, including Alex, will cost 100,000 Fight Money while the unlockable costumes will cost 40,000 Fight Money.
