Steam summer sale 2016 date set for June 23; titles not yet confirmed

 Valve

According to a report from VG 24/7, a Reddit post from McFreemanBBQ reveals that the Steam summer sale for this year may begin as early as June 23. The post appears to be a screenshot from a confidential message coming directly from Valve although there are no confirmations that it is a legitimate source.

However, the report does point out that the Redditor does have a good record of breaking inside news and did give accurate information regarding the 2015 Steam summer sale. This indicates that there is a chance that the shared information for this year's Summer Sale is accurate as well although Valve may always see it fit to alter the dates.

The exact details of the message were written in Russian but given that Steam is an international platform the dates will be followed on an international basis. It is for this reason that the exact time of the summer sale's launch have been given in Pacific Standard Time.

According to the report, if the screenshot proves true then the summer sale will run from 9:45 a.m. PST June 23 to 10 a.m. PST July 4. A specific list of games that may see large discounts for the Summer Sale were not included in the leaked message.

No official list of games have been released yet but the report does cite that many AAA games may be included. Some fans speculate that "NBA 2K16," Resident Evil HD Remastered" and "Watch Dogs" may be included while others include a potential sale for "The Witcher 3" and "Grand Theft Auto V."

In a separate report from Game Rant, it is pointed out that the 2015 Steam summer sale was also spoiled by PayPal when the PayPal website accidentally leaked the dates a little bit too early. In relation, the aforementioned June 23 to July 4 dates may be confirmed when PayPal begins advertising this year's Steam summer sale.
