Season 2 of "Star Wars Rebels" is still a few months away with no definitive premiere date on Disney XD, but the premiere episode was shown during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California. This was accompanied by the release of the first official trailer for season 2 along with promotional art and posters.

The trailer revealed a few plot details and hinted at what fans could expect from the upcoming season. Most notable is the addition of Darth Vader as the primary antagonist now that the Inquisitor is dead. James Earl Jones will be returning to voice the famous "Star Wars" villain.

Fans of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" were treated with the appearance of Ahsoka Tano in the last episode of season 1, and season 2 is bringing back Captain Rex, some other Clone Troopers, and the pirate Hondo Ohnaka. Both are going to confront Darth Vader and it was suggested by show runner Dave Filoni that these confrontations may not end well.

According to a report from MTV, it is very likely that one of the recurring characters will die. Fans have speculated that Kanan would be biting the dust since the trailer revealed a fight between Kanan and Darth Vader. There will also be two new Inquisitors and it is likely one of them could be responsible for the death of a Rebel.

One of the new Inquisitors is a large male with a dual-lightsaber similar to the one used by the Inquisitor in season 1. The other Inquisitor wears a mask and could be Mara Jade or another character taken from "Star Wars Legends." According to MTV, it could be Barriss Offee from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has also been confirmed to be in the next season but there has not yet been any official word on what character she is voicing.

Season 2 of "Star Wars Rebels" will air sometime in summer, kicking off with a TV-movie special followed by an estimated 22 episodes.
