Special service for missing April Jones

A special church service is taking place on Sunday morning for missing April Jones.

The service will be led by the Bishop of Bangor, the Rt Rev Andy John, at St Peter’s Church in the Welsh market town of Machynlleth, where the five year old was abducted last week.

The service is a collaboration between all of the town's churches and chapels.

Bishop John said it would give the community a chance to come together to pray for April and her family, and support each other.

He says, “This has been a very long and exhausting week for everyone in Machynlleth. It is at times like this that people need their faith most and want to turn to God for help.

"The church has held a vigil service every night and we hope the service on Sunday will bring people together to pray and reflect.

"We hope they will feel the love of God and draw some comfort and hope from it.”

Vigils have been held at St Peter's throughout last week. The church and also the cathedral in Bangor have opened their doors to give people the opportunity to come in and pray.

Friday's vigil was joined by the Archdeacon of Meirionnydd, Andrew Jones, who spent the day in Machynlleth offering pastoral support.
