'Sherlock' season 4 spoilers: Sherlock Holmes in love triangle?

Sherlock season 3 cast BBC

The fourth season of hit TV series "Sherlock" may feature a love triangle with Sherlock Holmes.

The previous season showed Molly and Sherlock sharing a kiss, and fans are waiting to find out whether the kiss will develop into something romantic or not. There is no denying the chemistry between the two characters — they were even used as an example in the Oxford English Dictionary to define the word "ship," which means to fall in love.

This is backed up by the statement of actress Louise Brealey, who plays Molly in the series.

"It went completely crackers when the show came out. I got 7,000 Twitter followers within five minutes of that kiss airing. It had doubled by the time the episode ended," Brealey told Radio Times.

The previous season showed that Molly is still not over Sherlock, although she had a boyfriend. Her boyfriend was very similar to the eccentric protagonist. In the end, their relationship did not survive and Molly broke up with him. Meanwhile, Sherlock seemed to be getting more aware of his feelings for Molly as he was not too keen of her having a boyfriend.

Meanwhile, other spoilers claim that Irene Adler will be back next season. Irene Adler appeared only once in the series, and the original version showed that she will not return again. However, the series has creative liberties when it comes to the storyline. Irene Adler has always been pointed as the love interest of Sherlock as the detective is attracted to her wit and resourcefulness.

"The danger is you have a successful character like Irene Adler and she makes a massive impact because that story is so perfect, but if she then moves in around the corner, it becomes a bit cosy," Benedict Cumberbatch told Digital Spy in December.

"Sherlock" season 4 is returning to BBC in early 2016 with no official date yet. However, the series will hold a Christmas special planned for December 2015 and will be based on the mystery "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle."
