Sean Lowe hopes that Christians would have the same courage as the Kenya 147

Former Bachelor Sean Lowe sometimes hates watching the news because of the many horrific stories that prevail, but at the same time, he believes that people should not remain ignorant of the things that are happening in the world.

One of the news that broke his heart concerns the recent attack by terrorist group al-Shabaab in Kenya in which they killed around 147 college students earlier this month.

"They went into Garissa University early in the morning and searched the dorms room-by-room, asking who was a Christian. Any Muslims, they let go. If anyone said they were a Christian, they were shot," he wrote in his Patheos blog.

Al-Shabaab is the same group that attacked a Nairobi mall back in September 2013, which resulted in the deaths of 67 people. They asked the same question then, and killed Christians while setting Muslims free.

"I know we've heard this kind of story many times before. Sadly, there are so many atrocities happening in our world that we can almost get used to it. But think about it for a second. What kind of enemy targets college students? Imagine the sheer terror these students felt being woken up by gunshots in the next hallway. Imagine the courage that 147 had to say 'Yes, I am a Christian,'" noted Lowe.

He has nothing but admiration for the brave students who paid the ultimate price for their faith, and he is sure that they will be rewarded in Heaven for standing up for Jesus.

"May we have the same courage when we face the inconvenience of getting funny looks for talking about Jesus or being mocked for our faith," he said.

He also urged Christians to pray for comfort for the families of the murdered students, peace for those who survived, and an end to all violence around the world.
