The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has just launched, and a report from Ecumenical News points out that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is likely going to be released by March or April 2017. It will reportedly come with a few radical changes.
According to the report, the Galaxy S8 is likely going to launch during the Mobile World Congress, an annual event which normally takes place during March in Barcelona, Spain. The Samsung Galaxy S7 launched during the most recent event and it is likely the S8 will follow suit, leading to an early 2017 launch.
Samsung has yet to confirm or deny the rumors of the phone's launch and as such the March 2017 release should still be taken with a grain of salt. There is always the possibility of Samsung releasing the Galaxy S8 earlier or much later than initially planned.
According to the report, the phone is likely going to feature at least two major changes in comparison to the Galaxy S7 and the other high-end Android smartphones. The report points out that the phone might be the first to feature the upcoming Exynos 8895 processor, which could make it 30 percent faster and more efficient than the Galaxy S7.
This new processor is even going to be more powerful than the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 832 and Apple's own A10 chip, which is the most current processor Apple is using today.
Another rumor stated is that the Galaxy S8 may no longer come with a flat display, instead launching only one variant of the phone with a curved edge.
"Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions [for the curved screen]," explained Samsung Mobile president Koh Dong-jin.
