The Samsung Galaxy S8 is still nothing but a rumor at this point given the recent launch of the S7 and S7 Edge but, according to a report from Patently Mobile, the device is likely going to come with a brand-new security feature: an iris scanner that will be working in scynchronization with the fingerprint scanner and password lock.
According to the post, the Galaxy S8 will have a complex camera that utilizes three different sets of lens in order to properly identify and read someone's eye. It is also further explained that the system will read the user's iris, general eye structure and facial features in order to get an accurate read.
This will allow the phone to have the optimal level of security that current smart phones do not have other than the reliability of a fingerprint scanner.
The patent also reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S8 may alter and improve their fingerprint sensor by placing the finger sensor to the back of the phone. At the same time, the phone's home button may be altered to resemble the design of an Apple iPhone in order to address issues and comlaints consumers have stated regarding the original design.*
Gotta Be Mobile also reports that the Samsung Galaxy S8 may be coming with improved displays that will come with full 4k resolution support that is also going to improve VR capabilities. This will guarantee Ultra HD viewing even when using a VR headset.
The latter may be added due to the rising popularity of VR devices such as the HTC Vive and Google Cardboard. Augmented reality and 360 film viewing is also becoming popular and it is speculated that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will take advantage of the new technology.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to launch by April 2017, although Samsung has yet to make an official announcement regarding its potential release.
