Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4, Note 3, and Note Edge are among the first smartphones from the company to receive the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in the first quarter of 2015, according to reports.

Android Origin reported that Samsung may deliver the Android 5.0 Lollipop to users early next year. If rumors proved to be true, owners of Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4, Note 3, and Note Edge will be the first to receive the said OS. However, there is no word yet if Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will also receive the Lollipop version of Android OS.

Samsung is currently waiting for the firmware from Google to make necessary adjustments and customizations before rolling it out to its smartphones and carriers. Right now, there is no concrete report whether the tech giant already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS to third party OEM manufacturers.

Previous reports stated that the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS will arrive to Samsung smartphones after the release of Samsung Galaxy S6. Based on previous OS update roll outs of the company, it delivers the software after a launch of a major smartphone.

Meanwhile, the South Korean tech company will soon finish rolling out the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update to its devices this month. Based on the timeline published by justaboutphones.com late last month, Samsung already rolled out the operating system to its major smartphones – Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 3 last month.

The mobile OS update for Galaxy S4 I9500, S4 LTE I9505 and Note 3 Neo is reportedly in the final testing stage and set to be released this month. Moreover, the S4 Mini Duos I9192, S4 Mini I9190, Grand 2 Duos G7102, Grand 2 G7105, Note 2 N7100 and Note 2 LTE N7105 are set to receive the new OS by the end of this month although its status is still pending.

However, these are mere speculations and Samsung is yet to confirm its roadmap for the Android 5.0 Lollipop release.
