The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update for the international version of Samsung Galaxy S5 is reportedly rolling out in some parts of Europe, specifically in Poland, but there is no word yet as to when the software will be available worldwide. This is unsurprising since the international variants of Samsung handsets usually get the OS updates first. If no errors or bugs are found, Samsung will allow U.S. carriers to roll out the updates to their respective devices.

This does not mean that all Samsung Galaxy S5 units will receive the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The update is only available to the G900F model through the Samsung KIES application and Over-The-Air. Users should get the new LRX21T Android 5.0 firmware upgrade.

If an S5 user has not received the notification yet, there is no need to worry since the update is believed to be rolled out in phases.

How To Update

Since the Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21T is being sent Over-The-Air, a notification will appear in the handset that the update is now available for download and install. To check, go to Settings> System> About Device> Software Update> Update menu. Tap on download to install the new version of the OS. Moreover, one can update by downloading the new OS using the Samsung KIES software via a computer.

Users need to confirm the download if there are any files ready for installation. Also, they can check for new Galaxy S5 G900F Android 5.0 Update files using Samsung KIES.

Android 5.0 Features

Google's latest Android OS features the brand new user interface Material Design, improved notifications, multi-tasking and sharing capabilities, as well as new lockscreen and security features. Another unique feature that is coming to Samsung Galaxy S5 is the new notification feature that will allow users to take action or ignore the notification.

Moreover, the OS boasts a new "priority" function that enables users to get incoming calls from selected contacts. Lastly, the Android 5.0 comes with Smart Lock Settings in which users can set "safe locations" where the handset will unlock itself without the need of the passcode.

Samsung Galaxy S5 users hope that the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS will resolve the "lag" issues experienced by users with the 4.4.4 version of KitKat OS.
