The so-called "limited edition" Samsung Galaxy Note Edge seems to be not limited at all since it is available at major carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Furthermore, starting Jan. 7, US Cellular will also include the new Samsung phablet in its line of devices.

US Cellular will offer the handset under a standard two-year contract for a hefty price tag of $399. One can also purchase the device for split payments. Thus, one can have the handset without shelling out an upfront price.

The carrier has not announced any off-contract price, but consumers can purchase the smartphone for $850 and $950. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is regarded as the company's experimental device.

The Note Edge has a 5.7-inch screen display with quad HD pixel resolution, 2.7 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 805 chipset paired with 3 GB of RAM, and is available in 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants. It has a microSD slot that can support up to 64 GB of additional storage. Other features include a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera, and 3220 mAh battery. The phablet also comes with a heart rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the Home button, as well as Samsung's trademark S-Pen stylus and TouchWiz user interface on top of the Android OS.

The handset was announced and still runs with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, but reports claim that it will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update this month. According to a Samsung spokesperson, the company is still in the process of reviewing the stability of the new version of the Android operating system to ensure that Samsung users will get the best experience from their handsets.

There are also speculations that Samsung will skip to the current Android 5.0.1 OS update. However, the current version of the Android OS still has a myriad of issues that Google should fix.
