Samsung launched another device with revolutionary features when it introduced the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge in September. The smartphone boasts a curved screen on the edge that serves a wide variety of functions like a dock for apps and features. The Galaxy Note Edge was reported to be popular, thanks to its curved screen panel.

Although its successor is still far off, creative concept designers are already visualizing the next generation of the handset. The latest render was imagined by designer Rishi Ramesh and it sports a thinner profile. The smartphone also has sharper edges, but it still has the curved screen on the side. The home button is also slightly embossed. Based on the photos, the imagined device seems uncomfortable to use.

It is speculated that the Galaxy Note Edge 2 will bump the specs and features of the original device. The current model has a 5.7-inch screen display, 2.7 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 805 chipset with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants, and microSD slot for up to 64 GB of additional storage. Other features include 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera, 3220 mAh battery, a heart rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the Home button, S-Pen stylus, and TouchWiz user interface.

The handset runs with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, but reports say that it is bound to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in January. According to a Samsung spokesperson, the company is still in the process of reviewing the stability of the new version of the Android operating system to ensure that Samsung users will get the best experience from their handsets.

Meanwhile, Google is currently rolling out the Android 5.0.1 OS update to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices. This sparked the speculations that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will jump to the Android 5.0.1 version.
