Galaxy Note 4 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G comparison: Will Xiaomi continue to threaten Samsung?

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Samsung

Xiaomi continues to be a threat to Samsung after the latter named the former as a tough competitor in the Chinese and emerging markets.

Xiaomi recently released its own phablet, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, which is expected to go up against the South Korean tech company's smartphone-tablet hybrid, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Below is the comparison of the specs and features between the two phablets.

Screen Display

The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a massive 5.7-inch screen panel with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) Super AMOLED pixel resolution. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 4G boasts a 5.5-inch screen panel with a much inferior resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with 267 pixel density.

Processor

Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 is available in U.S. and international variants packing a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and a 64-bit octa-core Exynos chipset, respectively. Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4G is equipped with a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 chipset and an Adreno 305 GPU.

Internal Storage

Xiaomi's phablet offers 8 GB of internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 offers 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants. However, both smartphones come with a micro SD slot that allows for up to 64 GB of additional storage.

Operating System

Samsung's device runs with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, but will be updated to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Xiaomi's handset is released with the 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Camera

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 16 MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 8x digital zoom and a 3.7 MP front-facing camera. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has 13 MP rear shooter and 5 MP selfie camera.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 3220 mAh battery; likewise, Xiaomi's phablet is supported by 3220 mAh battery capacity.

Based on the aforementioned features, Xiaomi's phablet does not boast high end specs but the specs are still fair for mid-range smartphones. But since Xiaomi's handset is way cheaper than Samsung's, it has a lot of potential for drawing in more budget-conscious consumers.
