Samsung Galaxy Alpha release date soon as benchmark spotted

The release of Samsung Galaxy Alpha may come soon as the device's benchmark was spotted.

First, the device was spotted in Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the AnTuTu score of the upcoming handset leaked online, which fueled the rumored release date of the device to be on Aug. 13.

The alleged Samsung Galaxy Alpha has an AnTuTu 4 score and the handset will be on par with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. On the other hand, according to the FCC document, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have the measurements of 133mm by 67mm, which makes it smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S5. This could be true as the handset was rumored to sport either a 4.7″ or 4.8″ 720p screen display, which is smaller than that of Galaxy S5. Moreover, the handset will most probably be thinner compared to the iPhone 5S.

Rumors claim that Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be a full metal smartphone. Just like the iPhone, it will also come with a semi-metal body, and you will find a metallic rim on the edges of the Galaxy Alpha. It will be equipped with a 4.7-inch AMOLED display, Samsung Exynos Octa 5 chipset, and will be powered by the new Snapdragon 805 processor introduced in the Galaxy S5 LTE-A. The handset will also be available with 32GB internal storage.

Sources from the Netherlands claimed that the Galaxy Alpha will be priced between €500 and €550, while retailer Mobilefun will bear an even pricier tag of €700 in the UK, which is highly unlikely.

Other leaks hinted that Samsung Galaxy Alpha will include a metal nano SIM card slot for additional storage.

Aug. 13 has come and gone and there is still no word on the launch of Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The Korea company has not revealed any official information about its upcoming devices, but some reports state that Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be released alongside the company's phablet, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, in September.
