'Salem' season 3 casts Marilyn Manson

"Salem" season 3's cast continues to grow as a report from TVLine has confirmed that rock star Marilyn Manson will be joining the show in a guest-recurring role. The third season has officially begun production in Shreveport, Los Angeles although it is undetermined if Manson has begun filming his scenes at this point.

According to the report, Manson will be playing Thomas Dinley, the local barber-surgeon in the town of Salem. His character is described as the go-to man for "a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up." No official photo of Manson in character nor any form of concept art has yet surfaced.

The third season is reportedly going to bring in a fight between the "power-hungry devil" against Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) despite the latter killed off in season 2. How Thomas Dinley plays into this plot has yet to be seen but it is speculated that some secrets of key characters will pass through his barber shop.

According to IGN, the season will also see the witches begin to remake the New World and eventually bring the devil to Earth, starting in Salem, which will become his capital. The devil is a liar, as noted, and will bring in death and slavery to the nation instead of freeing the New World from "Puritan hypocrisy."

It is also noted that while Manson has not yet appeared on the show prior to his new casting as Dinley, the musician did collaborate with composer Tyler Bates on the song "Cupid Carries a Gun," the official theme song for "Salem." The song also appeared in Manson's most recent studio album, "The Pale Emperor."

Manson is no stranger to acting on television. The musician did have a recurring role in the FX series "Sons of Anarchy," where he portrayed the character Ron Tully. He also appeared in "Californication" and "Eastbound and Down" while also voicing the Shadow in "Once Upon a Time" season 3.

"Salem" season 3 is expected to release sometime this year.
