'Rocket League' Xbox One version will not feature cross-platform gameplay

"Rocket League" will finally come to the Xbox One, but it looks like it will lack one important feature.

The game's developer, Psyonix, recently took to Twitter to announce that the upcoming Xbox One version of "Rocket League" will not have the same cross-platform play available to its PlayStation 4 and personal computer (PC) counterparts.

Psyonix also mentioned that the Xbox One does not allow for cross-platform play, but that is, apparently, not the case, as IGN even cited examples of existing titles that provide support for that feature. Examples of such games that feature cross-platform play support, according to the website, include "#IDARB" and the upcoming "Fable Legends."

It's unclear if there are any other reasons for why cross-platform play will not be available along with the Xbox One version of "Rocket League."

Still, even though Psyonix has stated for now that cross-platform play support will not be coming to the Xbox One version of "Rocket League," some have suggested that the current situation may not be a permanent arrangement.

Game Rant pointed out that adding a feature such as cross-platform play to the Xbox One's "Rocket League" is not all that difficult to pull off, especially with developers now equipped with the ability to release patches that could remedy problematic situations.

Time will tell if Psyonix does indeed add cross-platform support to the Xbox One port of "Rocket League" sometime after it is officially launched.

On a happier note, Xbox One players can look forward to some exclusive vehicles being included in their version of "Rocket League," according to Geek.

Some of the exclusive vehicles set to be featured include the HogSticker, a rumbling piece of impressive machinery that takes a good dose of design inspiration from the "Halo" universe, and also the Armadillo, a car inspired by the "Gears of War" games.

"Rocket League" will arrive to Xbox One in February.
