'Rise of the Tomb Raider' updates: Multiplayer competition possible with single-player campaign

Players will be able to enjoy the adventures of Lara Croft in "Rise of the Tomb Raider" with their friends, according to Microsoft.

The game publisher said that the soon-to-be released action-adventure game from Crystal Dynamics will let players compete with their friends. This statement was made after a previous report mentioned that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will not support multiplayer mode.

A representative issued a statement to VideoGamer to correct the earlier rumor, saying:

"Crystal Dynamics are hard at work on 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' and excited to deliver an amazing experience on Nov. 10 (US, 13, Nov. UK). In the coming weeks and months, stay tuned for more info on all things Rise of the Tomb Raider - including how players will be able to extend their single-player campaign and compete with their friends."

But while the statement did not actually deny the news that the dedicated multiplayer mode will be omitted from the game, it still mentioned that competition between players will still be possible since it will come out with competitive online functionality that will be featured in the game's single-player campaign.

In other related news, TechnoBuffalo recently offered a comparison between the graphics of the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 editions of the "Tomb Raider" sequel that was released back in 2013.

Based on the screenshot comparisons, the Xbox One version offers more details compared to the graphics offered in the last-gen console edition. The hair and dirt on Lara Croft's body is more detail edin the current generation of Microsoft's gaming console, while the foliage seen in the background has more realistic colors compared to the Xbox 360 edition.

Square Enix entered into an agreement with Microsoft in which "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be exclusive to Xbox for a period of time, which means that the title will only come out on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Nov. 10. However, PlayStation players will still have a chance to own the game after the timed-exclusivity ends early next year.
