'Reign' season 3 spoilers: Mary and Elizabeth discover more secrets in episode 9

 The CW

"Reign" is ending its mid-season break. Season 3 episode 9, titled "Wedlock," will involve three different parties undergoing their own tribulations. In particular, Mary (Adelaide Kane) will become even more suspicious regarding Prince Don Carlos (Mark Ghanime) while Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) will discover secrets that could alter her rule over England forever.

Back in episode 8, "Our Undoing," Mary turned to Gideon (Ben Geurens) to help her spy in oder to discover the truth and it looks like she will do the same in "Wedlock." According to the official synopsis obtained by SpoilersGuide, she'll be hunting for the truth about Don Carlos's condition and what darker secrets he may be hiding.

Elizabeth, on the other hand, is going to discover a different secret -- one that may compromise her rule over England. In order to maintain her hold over the country, she is going to force Dudley (Charlie Carrick) to make a difficult decision. At this point it is unknown what this decision entails but it may lead to dire consequences for Dudley.

However, as the title suggests, Narcisse (Craig Parker) and Claude (Rose Williams) will be the focal points of the episode as the former forces the latter to wed someone she does not want to. Who he chooses has yet to be unveiled but this may force Claude to do something drastic in order to break free.

According to a report from Cartermatt, these last few episodes will be crucial to the series as a whole given that "Reign" is going on an indefinite hiatus following episode 10, "Bruises That Lie."

The CW has not yet given any word about the future of the series and it is heavily speculated that "Reign" is going to be cancelled. Season 1 had 23 episodes while the second had 22. With only 10 episodes in season 3, it may end up being the shortest season of the series if it does get cancelled before the rest of the show airs.

"Reign" season 3 episode 9 airs Jan. 15.
