'Rainbow Six Siege' 2.0 patch uncovers problems for players

 Rainbow Six Siege/Ubisoft Official

Normally, a new patch signals some improvements, particularly tweaks to known issues, in games. However, it seems that the updates for Ubisoft's latest first-person tactical shooter title, "Rainbow Six Siege," while addressing some known bugs and glitches, also manages to uncover new issues.

The latest patch, update 2.0, brought some changes to the game, and also unlocked its newest expansion, an addition of two new operators and a new map. However, according to Express UK, players have reported some new issues cropping up after the new patch rolled out.

Reportedly, there are now more hit detection failures in-game, and in some cases, enemy players become black silhouettes in the middle of a mission, therefore harder to track and take down. The report added that the glitch involving Kapkan and his trip mines are still unlocked, where the laser trips for the weapons turn completely invisible, instead of detectable with tools.

According to IGN, some players took to online forums like the Reddit thread for "Rainbow Six Siege" to air the new developments. Some of the comments have been specific, and even compared the game to another first-person shooter.

A user commented, "Battlefield 4 is on a larger scale than Rainbow 6 and it has their own testing ground called the Community Test Environment, where they would test out patches before it gets released to the public. Ubisoft should really take a page out of DICE LA's books and implement this."

The latest patch notes listed the main changes that update 2.0 brought, including ACOG tweaks, increased maximum range for player pings, tweaking weapons like putting front sight post in all available weapon scopes, and improvements in playlists and missions including maps. Meanwhile, aside from the new update, there is also a new DLC already out for the game, "Operation Black Ice."
