'Q.U.B.E. 2' release date for PS4, PC, Xbox One news: sequel to the puzzle game will be released next month

Fans of the innovative puzzle game "Q.U.B.E. 2" ("Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion") need not wait long to experience the game. Developer Toxic Games recently announced that this sequel will be available next month, March 13, 2018. The developers have long expressed their plans of releasing the sequel in this year, but only recently did it get a specific release date.

Gameplay-wise, "Q.U.B.E. 2" is a game that uses the in-game environment as the main mechanic. It is often compared to the popular puzzle game series "Portal" in that the players are required to meaningfully interact with objects in the environment to clear areas or stages.

Players will take on the role of Amelia Cross, an archaeologist who wakes up one day to find that she is on an alien world. Cross assumes that she was stranded in an alien landscape with walls and pillar-like structures.

She wakes up with gloves on, and she soon finds that she can use the gloves to manipulate the objects around her. There are blocks of different colors on the game landscape, and each color represents a different function. For example, blue cubes serve as "launch pads" that can throw the player and other objects around the area.

The game was reportedly four years in development. Toxic Games Managing Director Dan De Rocha expressed how proud he is of how the game turned out. He shared how he and his colleagues were still students when they started to work on the first "Q.U.B.E."

Now that they have "a half decade of real industry experience," De Rocha believes that the game development company has finally achieved a "premium product" with "Q.U.B.E. 2"

"We hope you have as much fun playing it as we did making it," De Rocha said to the fans of the game franchise.

As mentioned, "Q.U.B.E. 2" will be available on March 13 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The game will include 80 puzzles spread across 11 chapters.
