Fred Dekker, who wrote and directed several cult classic films such as "Monster Squad" and "Night of the Creeps," has taken to Facebook to announce that "Predator 4" is indeed moving forward.

Ever since the 2010 "Predators" film, there has been word of a sequel. Movement on "Predator 4" has been almost non-existent except for the fact that Shane Black, who starred in the first film as Hawkins, will write and direct the new film. Black is known for directing "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Iron Man 3."

"I cannot say where I was this morning, or what I saw, or what we talked about," Dekker posted via Facebook. "But if you are a 'Predator' fan? One word: yes."

As pointed out in a report from Cinema Blend, Dekker's statement could mean a wide variety of things. It could mean that the studios have officially greenlit the film that Dekker and Black have been collaborating on but it could also mean the duo has finished the script, crafted a new Predator design or that the studios have accepted their pitch.

Black did state 2 years ago that there were no plans of making "Predator 4" a reboot of the franchise as that would be a waste of the established mythology. Instead, he mentioned back then that the idea was to make it an inventive sequel, akin to how "Jurassic World" is both a sequel to the classic films while still changing things up.

It is also speculated that the two "Alien vs Predator" films will not be considered as part of the official canon. Both films were loosely based on the video games and comic book series that mashed the two franchises together but neither movie properly acknowledged the mythos built by the individual "Alien" and "Predator" series and were critically panned.

"Predator 4" has no official release date as of the time of writing.
