Pope Francis did it again.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church just gave a 12-year-old girl from New Jersey, U.S.A. the best Christmas gift ever that anyone can receive—the gift of healing.
Grace West was previously diagnosed with stage four Neuroblastoma, a paediatric cancer affecting the nerve cells, the Mail Online reported.
With the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Grace was able to fly to Italy to meet Pope Francis.
Pope Francis kissed her forehead and also said a healing prayer over her, in return for her prayers for him.
When Grace returned to New Jersey she underwent another chemotherapy session.
On Dec. 11, her doctors announced the wonderful news: All of the cancer cells in Grace's body were gone.
Grace and her family believe that her complete healing did not just result from the chemotherapy session but from something even more powerful—divine intervention through prayer and with the Pope as medium.
"The best Christmas gift I could ever ask for, it was the power of the prayer that helped me," Grace said.
Grace's parents said their daughter's steadfast optimism and her strong faith in God contributed greatly to her healing.
"She stayed very strong, very positive and has a strong faith and was a big part of it," Grace's mother told Fox News.
Pope Francis has performed other "miraculous healing" acts. Just last month, the Pope was said to have performed a miracle when, with a kiss, he caused a tumour in a baby's brain to vanish. He gave his miraculous kiss to one-year-old Gianna during a papal procession in Philadelphia as part of his pastoral visit to the U.S., CBS Philadelphia and Mail Online reported.
The girl's mother, Kristen Masciantonio, told the television station: "She's getting better and stronger. She's blowing kisses. She's starting to point at things."
The girl's parents Joey and Kristen Masciantonio reportedly described the papal kiss as a miracle.
However, not all who received the Pope's blessing have been cured of their ailment.
A cancer-stricken boy whom Pope Francis also blessed in Philadephia during his U.S. visit last September passed away after celebrating his ninth birthday, according to Mail Online.
Landon Vargas, from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, was picked out of the crowd and blessed by the Pope during the same papal procession when he kissed away the brain tumour of baby Gianna.
Vargas' parents announced his demise on Facebook where they wrote: "It saddens us to have to say this but our precious son Landon, went to live with God Saturday evening. We will miss him dearly but are glad to know he is finally healthy and happy sitting next to our Lord."
