"Pokemon Sun and Moon" is the most highly anticipated game in the franchise other than the upcoming mobile game, "Pokemon Go," but Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have shared very little information about the game thus far. Rumors suggest, however, that it will shake up the series' formula by having at least two playable regions.

According to a report from The Bitbag, the trailer for the game seems to suggest that there will be multiple areas that players can explore, akin to how "Pokemon Gold and Silver" and the DS remakes allowed players to travel to Kanto after they completed the adventure in the Johto region.

However, the report does point out that the 3DS cartridge might not be able to hold as much data and that the region traveled in "Pokemon Sun" would be different from the one in "Pokemon Moon." It is also speculated that the Kalos region, from "Pokemon X and Y," would be an explorable region in the new game.

A second rumor, coming from Crossmap, suggests that "Pokemon Sun and Moon" may offer more than the traditional three starter Pokemon. All of the main "Pokemon" games to this point started with the player choosing one Pokemon from a choice of three types: fire, grass and water.

The report states that the new games might shake this routine up by offering more than just three choices and that they may be of unique Pokemon types. This may allow the games to offer a steel or even a fairy-type Pokemon as a starter Pokemon.

There are also rumors of the PokeWalker, which was first used for "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver," making a return. The PokeWalker is a small device that keeps hold of one Pokemon. As the player walks around doing their daily activities such as walking from home to work, the pedometer in the device will improve the Pokemon's stats.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" are set to launch by the holidays this year.
