'Pokémon GO' event news: Niantic wages war against snipers

"Pokémon GO" has gone through a series of ups and downs since the day it launched. Among the major issues that continue to haunt the mobile game are snipers, who work similarly to GPS spoofers. But now, Niantic is ready to give it their all and fight them.

According to GameRant, sniping refers to a tactic in which "Pokémon GO" players will have their GPS jump over to the location of rare creatures. As soon as they have engaged with the beasts, they tend to go back to their original location just before capturing. Unfortunately for these users, the studio is releasing the ban hammer.

Niantic is reportedly issuing a huge ban wave that will reprimand these snipers. Unfortunately, though, this does not completely solve the issue. After all, the problem is not something that can be fixed overnight. The studio, nonetheless, is hoping to have this done in the near future.

The company's move in fighting "Pokémon GO" snipers is already a huge step towards making the game stable. It is worth noting that this is one of the reasons why tons of players have stopped playing the game. Almost everyone will agree that the titular mobile game app needs significant balance changes to achieve a stable overall user experience.

In related "Pokémon GO" news, iOS users are complaining about not being able to enter and utilize the promo codes. At first, many thought this had something to do with Niantic. However, as reported by Daily Star, this is actually due to the Apple store's restrictions. The tech giant is said to insist on acquiring at least a 30 percent fee on every transaction made on iOS devices.

What is even more disappointing is that Apple wants to implement this even if "Pokémon GO" players transact offline. As of this writing, Niantic has yet to comment on the ongoing situation. Many fans have brought their frustrations to social media sites, claiming that such a move from Apple is just totally unfair.
