The 1 TB version of the PlayStation 4 Slim is going to be sold in North America for the same price this month.

On Tuesday, Sony announced in its official Twitter account that the 1 TB version of the PlayStation 4 Slim is going to start shipping in the region this month. It is priced at $299.99, which is the same as the cost of 500 GB version that was sold earlier.

Some fans took advantage of the social media post and voiced out their comments. While some are excited with the news, especially since they are considering purchasing the gaming console soon, others are requesting that the upgrade should have been made in the PlayStation Pro instead.

According to Polygon, a Sony representative confirmed to them that this is going to be permanent, saying "1TB is the standard storage size moving forward in the US and Canada." This means that interested fans who have not purchased the console before, but are interested to do so, will get more hard disk space in the PlayStation 4 Slim without shelling out more cash.

Meanwhile, the same source also clarified that the 500 GB version of the gaming console will no longer be sold in the United States and Canada. Nonetheless, the 500 GB variant will continue to be sold in Latin America.

PlayStation 4 Slim was launched last September, but Sony only sold the 500 GB version back then. The 1 TB version of the console first landed in Europe with several game bundles, then Japan followed with the new 1 TB Glacier White model last February.

Aside from the release of PlayStation 4 seven months back, Sony also launched the PlayStation 4 Pro, an upgraded version of the new generation console that features 4K-like gaming resolution. It is about $100 more expensive than the PlayStation 4 Slim at $400.

Sony has yet to confirm the actual release date of the 1 TB version of the PlayStation 4 Slim.
