'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' news: Johnny Depp cause of production problems? Will Turner to become main character?

Production for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has been completed, but rumors are starting to spread that this may be the last film in the series focusing on Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. It is now speculated that Will Turner Jr. (Orlando Bloom) may become the new main character.

According to Yahoo! Movies, Depp had constantly been late to film his scenes due to the ongoing divorce process with Amber Heard. The report stated that the cast and crew would normally have to wait for him as they have already done most of the scenes where Jack Sparrow was not present.

He was also absent for several weeks due to the hand injury he sustained in a physical altercation with Amber Heard. There have been rumors that he cut his finger off or that he had to amputate the finger due to an infection, but a previous report from Variety reveals he received the injury after punched a wall.

Movie News Guide points out that the constant delays may have not just raised the expenses for the film's production, but it may have also caused unrest amidst the other cast and crew members, particularly for Orlando Bloom. Despite the possibility that many would no longer wish to work with Depp, it is noted that he is the main anchor of success for the franchise, and Disney may stand by to keep him despite all these alleged problems.

"I remember talking to some crew members from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and they just said, 'Working on that was a nightmare,'" explained Jackie O'Henderson, a radio show DJ who had conversed with crew members of the film. "He would never turn up for work because they were always fighting," the DJ went on to say.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled to premiere on May 26, 2017.
