The countdown on the official "Persona 5" website continues, and as stated by a report from N4BB, the countdown will hit zero by 12:30 p.m. GMT. More information regarding this countdown has been revealed by the game's official website, with the game's main protagonist making a vague announcement.

The website now features The Phantom and the announcement stating, "I will take Tokyo Tower" by May 5. It has since been speculated that this means Atlus will host a large event in the aforementioned Tokyo Tower dedicated to "Persona 5" and during this event the Phantom will appear in a live video stream to announce the game's release date.

"Persona 5" is scheduled to launch sometime in summer for the PS3 and PS4 in Japan. A Western releases is expected to follow but only a PS4 port is expected to launch in the US given that the PS3 is already beginning to be phased out in some areas of the US.

It is noted in the report that the Phantom has made an appearance in past "Persona 5" events and live streams and this countdown may be lead to the biggest announcement yet. The date, May 5, is also a play on "Persona 5" as they all use the number 5 in some manner and this significance may be the reason why the release date will be announced instead of during a previous or latter event such as E3.

The report states that the May 5 event may confirm that the game is set to launch on July 20, which also marks the beginning of summer vacation for Japanese students. Hackers had previously infiltrated the site and had announced a July 8 release date but this was later retracted and the date is not what Atlus scheduled for "Persona 5."

"Persona 5" will be the first game in the franchise to launch for the PS4. It is set to change the franchise's tradition by having characters chased instead of being the ones actively pursuing the antagonists. It will see an updated version of the mechanics where players roam the school and city during the day and fight supernatural beings at night.
