'Overwatch' news: Game's closed beta starts Oct. 27

 Battle Net, Overwatch

Blizzard has recently announced that the closed beta for "Overwatch" will begin on Oct. 27.

For people who may have never heard of "Overwatch" previously or know very little about it, the game is actually the first new franchise coming from Blizzard in over 17 years, according to Gamespot.

"Overwatch" will be a team-oriented shooter that will be featuring some main characters. More details about its gameplay and other features will most likely be revealed as the launch date of the closed beta draws closer.

Moving back to the closed beta, it will initially be available only in the Americas. Soon after that, the closed beta is expected to move to Europe and, eventually, to Asia. The exact dates for when the closed beta will be arriving in those regions have yet to be announced.

Participants of the closed beta are being asked to provide feedback on as many aspects of the game as they can. Only a few people will be able to take part in the closed beta for "Overwatch," although the exact number has not been announced.

Blizzard will still be accommodating more players to try out the "Overwatch" beta, and they will be doing so through their Beta Test Weekends, according to PC Mag.

The Beta Test Weekends will be open to more players and also to more regions all over the world. Blizzard is holding these events to make sure that the game's servers will be able to handle the amount of information and activity that will be pouring in.

The initial Beta Test Weekend is currently scheduled to take place after BlizzCon.

Only those who will be opting in to the "Overwatch" beta through their Battle Net will be eligible to actually take part in the initial events for the game. Lucky players chosen for the "Overwatch" beta will receive an email complete with instructions telling them how to proceed.
