OS X Yosemite Beta download: 3 ways to get it now

Apple recently unveiled the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite at the Worldwide Developers' Conference last week.

The Cupertino-based company released the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and the new desktop OS gave the desktop icons a facelift and reveal a new design. The icons become a little flatter, transparent and have frosted effects. However, the new Mac OS X 10.10 will retain some of its features such as Finder and Mission Control.

The new OS X 10.10 Yosemite will be officially released in fall. However, there were rumors that the new iMac, which will be released this summer will pack the new desktop OS. However, Apple has not revealed the details yet. Below are the three ways to get OS X 10.10 Yosemite for free ahead of its release date in fall.

1. Be an Apple Developer

Registered Apple developers can download the OS X 10.10 Yosemite in order to work on the apps to fit the requirements of the new desktop operating system. How to be an Apple developer? One just needs to sign up online with your Apple sign in and fill in a form. New developers will have to pay $99. Moreover, developers need to state what you are actually developing: apps for the Mac or iOS, application plug-ins, Safari extensions, Dashboard widgets, etc.

2. Register to the OS X 10.10 Yosemite Beta Lottery

Apple will actually give away free beta version of the OS X 10.10 Yosemite to the first million Mac users who register. Just sign up for Apple's Beta program. The pre-release version will be delivered to the users in summer.

3. Download the OS X 10.10 Yosemite elsewhere

Although this is not the recommended way to obtain the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite, some websites give users who wanted to download and experience the new desktop OS, for example from IMZDL.
