Those who signed up for the OS X beta program can now experience the new beta release of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.
Available through download on the Mac App Store, Apple advises Mac users that the OS, officially labeled as Build 14D87p, be installed in a partition so they can uninstall the new version without losing any data. Also, users are warned to always back up their data when using beta software.
One of the new features for the Yosemite update is the app Photos for OS X. This is an easy-to-use photos library and organizer that comes with integrated editing tools. It can also be connected automatically to the iCloud Photo library, so that users may store more photos and videos than their Mac's capacity. The Cloud library also makes access possible from all iOS devices. What is interesting, too, is that for users who have existing iPhoto events set up, the information will not be lost but instead be migrated to the new Photos under the Albums area, which automatically creates the iPhoto Events folder.
The interface for Photos has also been overhauled. The design is now more natural, thanks to the sleek interface that users may find the same for those of the Photos app in iPhone and iPad.
Another upgrade for the new OS X version is the integration for support of Google's two-step verification process. When users add their Google accounts in the OS X's Internet Accounts, Google services like Calendar and Mail will have the authentication process activated. This is distinct update over earlier OS versions, where enabling two-step verification for Google gives users an error message.
Mac users who want to experience the new beta release for the OS X but are not enrolled in the Beta program can access Apple online and register their Apple ID.
