Norman Kember to Reunite with Iraq Hostages for Statement on Captors' Trial

The fellow hostages of Norman Kember, who were held together in Iraq earlier this year, will arrive in the UK this week to issue a statement on their alleged captors, who are facing the death penalty in the Middle East, a press release as told.

James Loney and Harmeet Singh Sooden will be reunited with Kember for the first time since they were released in March.

The three co-workers within the Christian Peacemaker Team (CPT) were kidnapped on 26 November 2006, along with Tom Fox, another of their co-workers who didn't survive the ordeal.

The three CPT members who survived the hostage ordeal were held for 118 days in total, but were finally freed when British and American forces found then on 23 March 2006.

The American member of their party, Fox, was killed by the hostages just 2 weeks prior to his friends' release, on 9 March 2006.

Now, the three surviving members of their party will come together, following news that their alleged captors are to face trial in Iraq early in 2007.

A statement is expected to be released on the day, exactly one year, since eir captors threatened to kill them unless their demands were met.

Kidnapping is a capital offence in Iraq and it is understood that those facing trial could face the death penalty, explains a press release.

James Loney and Harmeet Sooden will arrive in the UK on Wednesday 6th December, and will make their statements at St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation in the City of London, on Friday morning.
