"No Man's Sky" is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 4 before the end of 2015, with a PC version coming out just a few months after. Sony is giving full support to the small development team, Hello Games, that is working on the project. However, some are speculating that the game might not make it on time. Still, there's hope that the team would hit the targeted release window due to the help of a computer-generated robot.
According to a report from CrossMap, Hello Games consists of only 10 staff members and only four are full-time developers for "No Man's Sky." The report also reveals that the company has acquired a new computer-generated robot that will assist the developers in finishing the game on time.
The robot won't be doing any programming or design duties but it is reportedly capable of running tests and error checks. This eliminates the need for a fully staffed game testing department and QA department. "No Man's Sky" may still have to undergo human beta testing but a large chunk of the process will be automated now, making the transition smoother.
Cross Map also points out that using a robot to test and check for errors eliminates the risk of information about the game leaking out to the public. When games are being tested by human players, there tends to be at least one person in the crowd that will post all the details of the game that they see.
With a robot doing the alpha tests and error checks, there is absolutely zero chance of details leaking online. There won't be any unintended screen shots posted on forums, no off-screen videos on YouTube, and no secrets reported on any online gaming magazine.
