NFL news: McAdoo places Beckham under injured reserve

The New York giants suffered a loss during their game against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday. Yet, adding more to the tragedy is Odell Beckham Jr. injuring his ankle that will let him sit-out the entire season.

During the game, OBJ had five catches for 97 yards and 48-yard touchdown catch. For the entire season, Beckham stats will fall at 25 receptions for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. A Chargers defender landed on Beckham's left ankle while he was going up for a reception. This was the same ankle injured during the Browns game for the preseason matches. Beckham's knee was also hit by a helmet. Roger Lewis and Tavarres King are up to fill in the blank spots of the regular roster.

"Next man up," McAdoo said in an interview with Sporting News. "They're well-deserving of opportunities. You hate to see it like this, but it's a part of the game."

Giants coach Ben McAdoo confirmed that Beckham will be placed under the injured reserve list of the team together with Dwayne Harris who had surgery for his broken foot last Tuesday. Other injured members of the football club are Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard. McAdoo is hoping for Shepard's quick recovery to help the team shake off from their 0-5 standing.

Shepard's game stats this season scores at 22 catches for 263 yards and a touchdown. This may be indicative that the receiver can take Beckham's post. He is ranked 30th in the league. On a more positive note, having Beckham sit on the sidelines for rest of the season might give new insights for the entire club.

Since entering the NFL in 2014, Beckham is considered as one of the most dynamic wide receivers of the league. The 24-year-old athlete finished his first season with 90 receptions for 1300 yards and 10 touchdowns.
