'New Girl' season 5 spoilers, cast updates: Megan Fox arrives on set

"New Girl" season 5 is currently in the middle of production and as stated in a previous report, the first few episodes with Zooey Deschanel had been filmed before the actress officially took off for maternity leave. According to a new report from People, actress Megan Fox has now arrived on set this past Monday, Oct. 19 to begin filming.

The report has also posted the first look at Fox on set, wearing flip flops, leggings and a light jacket. She will be stepping in as a new character for the show, a pharmaceutical sales representative named Reagan. She is expected to bring a different dynamic to the boys compared to what they are accustomed to with Jess (Deschanel).

Fox's arrival kicks off the period where she will be doing a few episodes for season 5, but People also points out that she will be filming scenes long enough to do one episode with Deschanel when the latter returns from leave. It is currently uncertain as to how many episodes Fox will be filming before she gets to do the one episode with Deschanel.

In a previous interview with People during the "Rock the Kasbah" premiere, Deschanel did get to express her thoughts on Fox stepping in to fill in the void, "I'm super excited. Essentially, my character Jess gets on jury duty and has to be sequestered, so the roommates rent out her room for a few weeks. I think Megan's going to be fantastic."

Fox is known primarily for her role in the "Transformers" franchise as well as a few comedic hits such as "This is 40," "Two and a Half Men" and "Hope & Faith." She is currently also one of the main characters in the rebooted "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film franchise, where she plays reporter April O'Neil.

"New Girl" season 5 premiere has been pushed back to January 2016.
