New DVD to Help Faith Communities Be More Inclusive

|TOP|A new short film is to be premiered next month in London with the aim of helping faith communities be more inclusive of people with learning disabilities.

The screening of the film, Faith in Practice, is to be attended by religious leaders from major faiths as well as people with learning disabilities and their supporters.

The film was partly produced by a team of people with learning disabilities and aims to raise awareness among Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Hindu communities of ways they can include people with learning disabilities.

The advice and experiences of people with learning disabilities and also faith leaders in tackling the issue are featured in the film, to be premiered at the Globe Theatre on Thursday 8th June.|AD|

"Many people with learning disabilities value being part of a faith community but rarely get the support they need to fulfil their spiritual or religious needs, a basic human right,” said Hazel Morgan, Co-Director of the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities.

“We hope this film will encourage faith communities to involve people with learning disabilities more."

The film has been produced by the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities as part of their ongoing work in religion and spirituality.

Faith in Practice is available on DVD and video format from 8th June 2006.
