New children's books give friendly introduction to Jesus

|PIC1|Much loved children’s author, Bob Hartman, has launched a brand new children’s fiction series with Authentic Media.

Best Mates is the first book in the series which views the ministry of Jesus through the somewhat unconventional eyes of Big Bart, Tommo and Pip – three of Jesus’ less well-known disciples.

In Best Mates we travel with the guys as they attend the wedding at Cana and witness Jesus raise the widow’s son at Nain. They meet the Roman centurion, astounded that Jesus should be impressed by the faith of their hated oppressor.

Then there’s the scary encounter with the Gerasene Demoniac and some unpleasantness with flying pigs.

The book is very child friendly, there aren’t too many words on each page and the text is littered with fantastic illustrations by Mark Beech.

Primary school children will find Best Mates laugh out loud funny; whether it’s first-century anti-Roman jokes, curiosity as to what might be inside a dead badger or the nuances of nose etiquette – was that a blow, a snort, or a hork?

But alongside the humour we also see a true reflection of the ministry of Jesus through the eyes of his rather slow to catch on friends, as it dawns on them gradually that this man is doing amazing things – could he be the Messiah?
