New Anglican Observer to the UN Carries Hope for "Transformation"

The Church of Uganda has offered its congratulations to its member Hellen Wangusa following her appointment as the new Anglican Observer to the United Nations.

|PIC1|In particular, a number of leading figures from the Church gave their full support to the appointment and expressed hope in the great "transformation" Wangusa may bring to the world body.

In a statement the Church said it was honoured that the wider Church is "recognising and receiving the capable, committed, and competent Christian leaders the Church of Uganda is producing".

Provincial Secretary the Rev Canon Aaron Mwesigye predicted that Wangusa will leave a great legacy in the United Nations by providing advocacy guided by the Bible.

Canon Mwesigye said: "We know and believe that Hellen will leave a strong legacy of faith-based and Biblically grounded advocacy within the scope of the UN's work."

In addition, the Archbishop of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi, who visited Wangusa last week in New York, offered his congratulations, saying, "Hellen is a product of the East African revival movement.

"We are confident that God will use her ministry at the United Nations to witness to the unchanging gospel in a changing world and to offer the hope of transformation through the gospel."
