Sony's new 12-inch tablet speculated to arrive in early 2015

Sony is reportedly working on a new 12-inch tablet bound for release early next year.

Latest leaks suggest that Sony will release a high-end 12-inch tablet that will be officially announced in the first quarter of 2015. It is most likely that the new device will appear at next year's Mobile World Congress where Sony usually shows off their new devices.

There is no concrete information about the tablet yet, but whispers state that it will pack top-of-the-line specs and features as well as a stylus. There are also speculations that Sony's new tablet will boast a 12-inch screen with 2K pixel resolution.

It seems that Sony is gunning to top Samsung's 12-inch slates as well as Apple's rumored larger tablet, iPad Pro. Moreover, Apple and Google recently released powerful tablets that garnered praises from critics and consumers alike.  DigiTimes cited insiders from Taiwan-based supply chain makers claiming that other brands are also designing their own larger tablets.

On related news, there are rumors saying that the Japanese manufacturer will release a Sony Xperia Z4 in March next year.

Android Origin cited "trusted sources" who claimed that Sony, known for updating its Xperia line every six months, realized that there is no need to release two smartphones each year since it will only saturate the smartphone market and will yield to lower sales. Thus, it's possible that the tech company will introduce only the Xperia Z4 in 2015.

These sources also hinted that Sony Xperia Z4 will come with a 5.5-inch screen panel with Quad HD (2560 x 1440) pixel resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with 64-bit architecture clocked at 2.8 GHz paired with 4 GB of RAM. The Xperia smartphone will be available in 32 GB storage variant and will also feature LTE Cat.6, Bluetooth 4.1, a dedicated amp, and an enhanced camera with a curved sensor.

However, Sony has yet to confirm the aforementioned rumors about the company's tablet and smartphone.
