Charlotte Hornets trade rumors: team may still trade for Harrison Barnes or Dwight Howard

 Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets currently hold the 22nd spot for the NBA draft and according to a Twitter post from Tony Jones, journalist for the Salt Lake Tribune, the team is aiming to improve their current spot. However, it is undetermined why the Hornets are aiming to do so as their target player has yet to be announced.

According to iSports Web, there are three potential players that the Hornets may be hoping to pick up from the draft.

One such player is Denzel Valentine from Michigan State. Valentine has been notably going down in regards to team favors as many organizations fear he won't be of much use due to the threat of his knee injuries which were persistent throughout his college basketball career.

Malik Beasley from Florida State is another potential contender. An impressive shooting guard, the report states that the Hornets may be aiming to pick him up to replace Courtney Lee who is potentially leaving the team as he enters free agency. The only issue though is that the Utah Jazz may pick him up first as they have the number 12 draft pick.

The third likely pick is DeAndre Bembry from Saint Joseph Hawks. The report also points out that he is known as the second best passer who isn't a point guard, just behind the widely popular Ben Simmons. This may make Bembry one of the most coveted players from the current draft.

However, there are possibilities that the Hornets are not trying to get a higher draft pick in order to get any of the aforementioned players and are instead hoping to use the higher pick to make a trade for a veteran player such as Harrison Barnes or Dwight Howard. The team may also be trying to get a better draft pick to trade it in for more money.
