'NBA 2K17' release date, roster news: details of MyTeam preorder bonuses and Dream Team confirmed

NBA 2K17 - Dream Team Take-Two Interactive

Take-Two Interactive, the developer for the upcoming "NBA 2K17" video game, has unveiled via Twitter that the 1992 USA Dream Team will be added for those who preorder the game prior to its September release for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. New MyTeam preorder bonuses have also been revealed via Twitter.

The three new card designs for MyTeam focus on the three eras of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Paul George. Both Jordan and Bryant are rated at 99 while George has a rating of 90. Bryant will be featured on the Legend Edition of the game while Paul George and a select others will be appearing on the cover of the standard edition of "NBA 2K17."

It is revealed that the Dream Team is based on the 1992 iteration, the first team to join the Olympics consisting entirely of active NBA players. The team consists of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, John Stockton, Magic Johnson, Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin and David Robinson.

An old issue of Sports Illustrated coined the team as the "Dream Team" and as the "most dominant squad ever assembled in any sport." Although they have been compared to later USA Olympic teams the most significant comparison came from Kobe Bryant who claimed the 2012 team would have defeated the 1992 team in a match.

Other preorder bonuses will have been previously reported, particularly for consumers that preorder the Legend Edition featuring Kobe Bryant. Some of the preorder bonuses will include in-game currency, in-game gear such as Kobe Bryant-inspired shoes and jersey and a real poster showcasing Bryant.

A lawsuit against Take-Two and "NBA 2K16" has been shut down by the judicial court and this will be in the benefit of the upcoming "NBA 2K17," ensuring that the game can launch as scheduled this coming Sept. 30. It will launch for the Xbox One, PC and PS4.
